Trail Val Bregaglia but we only walk!
Back in Australia

Group One Completed
My first walking group for this year have completed their walks and have now left for other destinations. During our last supper I mentioned to them if they enjoyed the walks, the chit chat and the food half as much as I did, they must have had a great time. They were a great group of people. Their sense of humour, their willingness to have a go and their preparedness to learn about Engadina valley I found stimulating and most enjoyable.
As this group did the short tour, there were no rest days. Every day, “Team Aus” set off for the mountains. We were blessed with excellent weather, maybe even too warm on some occasions.
I must say however there was a subtle shift in focus as the week wore on. Walking is the main focus of my tours and enjoying the local cuisine a minor focus. By weeks end, as evident during our last supper, enjoying the local food and wines was becoming a serious contender for “why are we here”. All good fun.
This week is meant to be a rest week for me. However my cousins have dragged me out to climb some more peaks. Yesterday we climbed Grevasalvas in Switzerland at 2932 m. It was excellent as at the top we could see all the peaks in the Engadina valley. It was surprising to see how many lakes there are in the mountains. As well I discovered two shortish walks for my groups through some beautiful Swiss farmland and villages, including the location for the filming of the movie “Heidi”.
This coming Sunday I look forward to my second group beginning to arrive. The forecast is for good weather.
First Week in Santa Croce
Have arrived in Santa Croce after a very good flight across from Oz. Met Lisa in Milano Centrale. Lisa had a very enjoyable two weeks in Milano with plenty of shopping. All is well in Santa Croce. Today Lisa and I did the new Lake Como walk. It went well despite having to backtrack several times locating the pathways. The views of the Lake from up the mountains are spectacular. Signage is non-existent but I think I have sorted out the correct paths. On the way back along the lake there is now a “lungolago” pathway for all but a five minute walk along the main road. By walk’s end we will have had a good “taste”of the lake. On Sunday we climb Mount Tambo at 3270 m in preparation for Mt Blanc next week. So far all is well.
